We all know that having an evening skincare routine is super important, but so is your morning routine! Your morning routine helps to protect your skin from anything you may encounter during the day, until you come home at night to complete your evening routine. Check out the steps below to follow a simple day skincare regimen:
Step 1: Cleanser
Especially if you applied products on your face the night before, it's best practice to wash your face in the morning! Use a gentle cleanser that will rehydrate your skin, and allow you to work with a fresh canvas for your day.
Step 2: Toner
After cleansing, help to balance your skin's pH level with a refreshing toner. Toner often gets a bad name, since people usually correlate it with astringents. Well, toners are definitely not supposed to strip your skin of its natural oils, but rather help it hydrate. Hydrated skin is key when it comes to proper absorption of the other skincare products you may layer on.
Step 3: Antioxidant Serum
An antioxidant serum should definitely be in your arsenal of morning skincare, since we are often exposed to a variety of environmental free radicals during the day. By using a serum, like one with Vitamin C, this will help to neutralize any potential stressors your skin may come into contact with. Not only does the serum neutralize free radicals, but it also repairs your skin at a deeper level.
An antioxidant serum that contains Vitamin C is often recommended to individuals who may have hyperpigmentation to help heal the discoloration, but be aware that Vitamin C is photosensitive (reactive to light).
You ABSOLUTELY MUST wear a sunscreen if you opt to use a Vitamin C serum during the day.
Step 4: Moisturizer
Finding a moisturizer that works for you is so important! Sometimes, your skin type might even be hinting that you may need a specific moisturizer (if you're dry, you need something extremely hydrating; but if you're oily, you still need moisturizer but something lightweight). Hydrated skin is the key to combat premature aging and other skin issues!
Step 5: Sunscreen
While getting Vitamin D from the sun is super important to overall body functions as well helping us to achieve a glow, there's a fine line between just enough and too much sun. Apply a thin layer of sunscreen, regardless if you plan to wear makeup or not, since the sunscreen will be a definitive barrier between your face and UV rays. Overexposure to the sun over time can alter your skin's integrity and texture!
Step 6: Primer/Makeup (Optional)
If you opt to wear makeup during the day, wait a few minutes until after the sunscreen has dried. Apply your primer, and whatever else you like to wear! Finish off with some setting spray to lock in all the layers of your skincare.

I have always known how important a daily skin care routine was but was never sure of exactly what order to go in! I can admit I have been doing it wrong and am so excited to see the change once I correct my routine!
I’ve always been confused on what order to use my AM skincare routine products in. I’ve always applied toner last because i had no idea😅 This post was beyond helpful, thank you!
I didn’t know specifically that Vitamin C helps hyperpigmentation & heal discoloration!
AND Vitamin C is photosensitive. Thank you for the tips! 💗💗💗
