New Skincare Habits in 2022

Posted by NATASHA MCGUCKIN on

The past nearly two years have been taxing and stressful for many of us! As we enter a new year, here are some new habits that you can try to adopt that will be good for your mental health as well as your skin health!

1. Destress

Easier said than done for many of us, but trying to destress through methods of meditation, journaling, or whatever methods work FOR YOU will help you emotionally! Not only that, but when you feel stressed, your nervous system releases stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline into your body. Cortisol causes increased oil production in your skin's glands, which can lead to clogged pores and acne breakouts. So, it's just beneficial all around to try and limit your stress!

2. Purge Products

A new year is the perfect time to go through your stash of skincare to see what should be tossed to prevent potential breakouts! Check to see what your products shelf-life is; if it's been open longer than a year, it's most likely time to throw it away.

3. Mask Up

"Mask-ne" has become a prevalent issue this past few years due to the pandemic, and a great way to deal with this is to mask up with a clay mask! Our Cocoa Clay Mask and our Matcha Mud Mask are perfect to use if you're having problematic issues on your checks and jawline from wearing your mask.

Tip: Avoid wearing your mask multiple times. If it's cloth/washable, use hot water and castille soap with tea tree oil to disinfect it before your next wear!

4. Go Organic or Natural!

There's nothing like making a resolution to elect for a "cleaner" lifestyle! The skincare/cosmetic industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, so it's no surprise that this industry is also problematic when it comes to the environment. But, it doesn't have to be that way! We can all do our best to avoid products that contain oxybenzone, parabens, and sulfates since these products have been found to cause damage to the environment (which means it harms us, too)!

At 'Ili Kope, we've been doing our best to minimize our plastic waste, which is why most of our products either come in glass or compostable packaging, and our skincare products are handmade with ingredients that basically come straight from nature straight to your bathroom counter!

Happy New Year and may 2022 bring you and your loved ones amazing opportunities!

Natasha
