10 Minute Beauty Routine For Busy Students

School is back in session for some, and this means that schedules have definitely become a little hectic! A successful skincare routine doesn't need to have a bunch of steps to allow you to have gorgeous skin; the secret to beautiful skin is being consistent. This blog will discuss the skincare steps that are quick, but very important to upkeep in your morning and nightly beauty regimen.

Morning

1. Cleanse (2 minutes)

Wash your face with a gentle, low pH cleanser. Low pH cleansers leave your skin’s natural moisture barrier intact; the moisture barrier holds moisture in the skin and keeps breakout-causing bacteria and redness-causing irritants at bay. A low pH cleanser can ultimately reduce the need for a more specialized skincare to treat dryness, acne, or sensitivity, due to the fact that it is working with your moisture barrier!

2. Moisturize (3 minutes)

After you've finished cleansing, apply a hydrating, lightweight moisturizer (even if you think you have oily skin, you still should apply a moisturizer) to add extra moisture. Let the moisturizer dry down for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.

3. Under-eye (2 minutes)

Being gentle near and around the eye area is extremely important since that skin is delicate. Apply an under-eye serum, like our Perk Serum which contains caffeine, to help your eyes awaken for the day! An eye serum can help to keep wrinkles at bay, which can help to keep the eye area smooth (especially if you tend to wear makeup or concealer there).

4. Sunscreen (3 minutes)

Regardless if it's rainy, sunny, or overcast, it is vital to apply sunscreen generously to your face, neck, and any exposed skin of upper chest. If you’re not going to apply makeup afterwards, feel free to run right out the door to get to your first class as soon as your sunscreen is on!

TIP: If you plan to apply any makeup, allow the sunscreen to set for about 10 minutes to avoid any caking or creasing.

Evening

1. Remove sunscreen/makeup (1 minute)

It's important to "double-cleanse" with an oil or cleansing water to start off your evening routine, so that all the makeup or sunscreen you've been wearing all day will be broken down. We enjoy using our Coffee Body Oil to help remove mascara and lipstick, since the coconut oil breaks down these products very easily. Apply your choice of "cleanser" to a cotton pad, and gently swipe over your face. Leave cotton pad for a few seconds on eyes and lips (if you've applied makeup there).

2. Cleanse (2 minutes)

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any remaining makeup or residue. Your evening cleanser can be the same as the one you used in the morning!

3. Serum (2 minutes)

Applying Hyaluronic Acid can help to plump up your skin, so that it can readily absorb the other skincare products that you might apply in the next step!

4. Treat (3 minutes)

Depending on your skin type, this is the time in your evening skin routine that can be more customized. If you struggle with acne, this is the step where you can apply Salicylic Acid or Niacinamide. Or, if you have just one annoying pimple, apply a pimple patch!

5. Moisturize or Night Cream (2 minutes)

Moisturizing before bed helps to restore your skin while you sleep, so your skin in the morning is fresh and ready for the next day. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer if you have oily or combination skin, or a heavier night cream if you struggle with dry skin. It's important to understand your skin type, so you're able to nourish your skin with what it craves; your skin will thank you!

I am a busy college student myself and there are some days I admit I do forget to do my skin care routine or sometimes I’m unsure what I should do. I will defiantly remember to put my sunscreen on more often. This is so important yet such an easily forgotten thing.
